ICC Cricket 2011 World Cup Opening Ceremony held in Dhaka, Bangladesh


ICC Cricket 2011 World Cup Opening Ceremony went on with full zeal in Bangladesh yesterday , 17th February 2011 evening at 6:30 in the Bangabandhu National Stadium at Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

ICC Cricket 2011 World Cup Opening Ceremony went on very well with full zeal in Bangladesh yesterday , 17th February 2011 evening at 6:30. The event was held in the Bangabandhu National Stadium at Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

All the 14 Captains arrived at the Dhaka Sheraton Hotel on 17th afternoon itself.

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina unveiled the World Cup. The stadium which has seating capacity of 25000 was packed.

The captains of the 14 teams appeared in beautifully illuminated Cycle Rickshaws , one after the other, cheering the crowd.
Indian Cricket Captain M S Dhoni honoured

The stadium was illuminated and decorated nicely and cultural performances held there. During the ceremony several popular singers and musicians from Asian Countries as well as from other countries performed. The ICC World Cup official song composers Shankar-Ehsan-Loy performed the Anthem. Sonu Nigam and Runa Laila, a well-known Bengali singer, Sabina Yasmin, Mumtaz from Bangladesh were among the popular performers. Dance performances showcasing Indian and Bangladeshi culture were spectacular Bryan Adams, a Canadian Rockstar performed his popular numbers Summer of 69, Cuts Like a Knife and 18 till I die, which made the public overwhelmed with joy.

The event was jointly organized by Bangladesh Cricket Board and the International Cricket Council. Thousands of people were witnessing the event just standing outside the stadium, while the inside the stadium was packed with 25000 plus spectators. The event ended with fancy fireworks.
