A female leopard entered in to the residential area of Bhandup on 5th February driving the residents panic.
Mohammad Mubarak, a brave teen-aged boy of 14 years spot the leopard inside a toilet through a window. When the leopard made attempts to attack the boy, he cleverly closed the window and informed the people around.
However, the leopard escaped from the toilet and jumped out but got stuck in a narrow passageway next to a mosque. The police were informed and with the help of forest officials, the leopard was tranquilized and captured later.
Luckily the residents of the Khindipada area in Bhandup escaped from a terrible attack of the leopard. The leopard was small not fully grown and came out of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, perhaps hunting for its prey.
Dr. Vinaya Jangale , Wildlife veterinary officer of Sanjay Gandhi National park inspected and exmained the young female leopard. Finally the leopard was released it to the SNGP in the evening.
This sort of incidents happened several times in Mumbai and it is a matter of great concern, whyas the Civic Administration is not taking necessary steps to ensure proper security to the residential area around the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
