Mumbai Metro Update
Here is good news for the Mumbaikars. If we believe the words of MMRDA, the years long wait on Mumbai Metro project will finally be over by October, 2011. Thereafter, they will launch a 3 month trial run and the public finally will travel in Mumbai metro by January, 2012.
Mumbai Metro Project Details
The first phase of Mumbai Metro Rail will link Versova, Andheri and Ghatkopar station. It will cover around 12 stations, covering a length of 11.07 km.
The next stations that the metro will cover is; Colaba, Bandra and Charkop.
And further it will cover Bandra, Kurla and Mankhurd.
Mumbai Metro Project Timeline
The foundation stone of the Mumbai metro project lay down in June, 2006. Then it has been promised that by the end of year 2009, the Mumbaikar can enjoy the metro ride.
Before the actual projects kicked off, the problems and litigations has to be settled out. Going by this rule, the actual project work begins in February, 2008. And it has been again promised that, the project will be completed by February, 2011.
Finally, it has been said that, the actual project will be completed by October, 2011 and the Mumbaikar will enjoy the metro ride by January, 2012 only!
Mumbai Metro Cost
The cost of Mumbai Metro Rail, first phase only is around INR 2,356 Crore.
