Father's Name: Pandharinath Kolhapure. First cousins of Prandharinath are Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle.

is considered as one of the most talented actress actress Hindi films has ever produced. Her natural acting was her asset. The ordinary looking girl is still in the memory of Indian Hindi movie audiences only due to her acting.
Career in Hindi Film
is from a Maharastrian Konkani family. From her childhood she has attachment with
Hindi film industry
, either in the form of chorus singer or child actor. As a child Padmini sang in films like Yadoon Ki Baraat, Kitab, Dushman Dost. Afterwards she sang the famous folk song Saat Saheliyan in Vidhaata, which was a super hit at that time.
As a child artist, she worked in Raj Kapoor's Satyam Shivam Sunaram in 1977. In that film she acted the child role of Zeenat Aman. Her small role in SSS was sufficient to send a message to
audience that someone is coming and will stay for long time in the industry. Her second child role was in Insaaf Ka Tarazu in 1980. In this movie she played a very critical role, role of a rape victim and won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.
Padmini Kolhapure with her cute baby face first acted as a heroine in Nasir Hussain's Zamanee Ko Dikhane Hai opposite Rishi Kapoor. At that time she was only 15 years old. Later she worked with Rishi Kapoor under R.K.banner in Prem Rog and got the Filmfare Best Female Actress Award. In 1982. In the same year she got special award for Ahista Ahista.
In the 80's Padmini Kolhapure occupied a special position in
Indian Hindi films
. One after another hit cemented her position in the industry. Some of her memorable Hindi films are Vidhaata – 1982 (Opposite Sanjay Dutt), Souten – 1983 (Opposite Rajesh Khanna). Her film Pyar Jhukta Nahin - 1985 (Opposite Mithun Chakraborty) was a super hit. After the success of this movie, Mithun and Padmini worked together in many Hindi films. Mithun Chakraborty still today consider Padmini as his most lucky heroine. In 1983, another block buster hit of Padmini Kolhapure, Who Saat Din released. She acted in this film opposite Anil Kapoor, who was a new comer then.
Padmini Kolhapure got married at an early age retired from Hindi film when she was only 21 years old. After retiring from Hindi films she was looking after her only son Priyank
She returned to acting again in 2004 with Marathi films Manthan and super hit Chimnee Pakhra .
Now she is working in different television serials also.
