Indian Government sponsored Laptop at a lowest price of Rs.1500/-


Indian Government-sponsored Laptop now available at a lowest price of Rs.1500/- for students. Checkout for a prototype device offered by Allgo Embedded Systems.

The Government of India has come out with the "Government-sponsored Laptop" at a price of Rs.1500/- (approx. $35) for the students. This was announced by Minister for Human Resource Development, Mr. Kapil Sibal last month as an "answer to MIT" (Nicholas Negroponte's famous "One Laptop per Child" was conceived at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Followed by this announcement , Allgo Embedded Systems, a company in Bangalore, unveiled "Stamp" a prototype device that runs Linux and Android operating systems on i.MX233, a cost-effective and low-end processor. The company hopes that this device could find many takers in the B2B market.

Allgo Embedded Systems has put on their official website a video demo of the device that sports a 7-inch touch screen.
