New online facility is available now to check Income Tax credit statement online.

31st July 2010 is the date to file returns for slay class and non-corporates.

If Form 16, which gives details of your Income tax Deducted at source (TDS), is not made available to you by your Company, you need not worry now. Tax payers can now check online to find out the tax deducted by their employers has been paid to the Income Tax Department.

This new online facility is available to all tax payers including those who manually file their returns. The only requirement to avail this facility is, your Permanent Account Number (PAN).

Register Online Process:

1. Go to the website :
2. Register as a new user.
3. Type in your PAN, which becomes your log-in identity.
4. Fill in the required personal details, including your your e-mail ID and
create a password.
5. Once registered, you will get an immediate intimation on your e-mail ID.
6. Go to your e-mail and follow the instructions to activate your account.
7. After activation, login, and click on "My Account" to see your details.

This new online facility is user-friendly. Now all assessees, whether salaried or non-salaried can view their Tax Credit statements. Registration is free.

In Mumbai there are about 28 lacs assessees.
