Recipe To Prepare Katti Daal

Following is the recipe to make Katti Daal

You need following ingredients for the same,
Masoor Daal – 1 cup
Water – 3 cups
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
Red Chili Powder – to taste
Cilantro – 5 sprigs, chopped
Garlic – 1 tsp
Ginger – 1 tsp
Curry Leaves – 1 sprig
Tamarind Paste – 1 tsp
Salt – As per taste
Oil – 1 Tbsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Red Chilies – 2 to 3
Curry Leaves – 1 sprig

Method:
1. In a pressure cooker, add Masoor Daal, Turmeric Powder, Water, Red Chili Powder, Ginger, Garlic, Cilantro and 1 sprig Curry Leaves.
2. Close cooker lid and pressure cook until 1 whistle sounds.
3. Add in Tamarind Paste and Salt – bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes.
4. In a small skillet, heat Oil.
5. Add Mustard Seeds and allow them to pop.
6. Add Cumin Seeds and allow them to sizzle.
7. Add broken Dry Red Chilies and Curry Leaves.
8. Mix the seasoning with the daal.
9. Mix well, cover and let the daal sit for few minutes.
